Privacy
Policy.
Stolen Heritage ("we", "us") operates an editorial archive documenting cases of cultural appropriation of Indian craft, cuisine, and tradition. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your data.
1. Information we collect
When you submit a case through our form, we collect:
- Your name (optional) and email address (required, so we can verify the submission and follow up).
- The details you provide about the brand, product, craft, region, evidence link, and description.
We do not collect financial information. We do not sell or rent personal data.
2. How we use your information
- To verify submitted cases against public records, craft councils, and GI registries.
- To contact you for clarification or additional documentation.
- To credit you as a contributor, only if you explicitly opt in.
3. Publication
Cases published in the archive contain only the factual information about the brand, product, craft, and pricing — never your personal contact details. Your email and name remain confidential unless you ask to be publicly credited.
4. Cookies & analytics
We use minimal first-party storage (such as local storage for draft submissions and theme preference) and privacy-respecting analytics to measure page traffic in aggregate. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
5. Data retention
Submission records (including your email) are retained for as long as the case file remains active. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing legal@stolenheritage.com and we will action it within 30 days.
6. Your rights
Under applicable data-protection laws (including India's DPDP Act and the EU GDPR where relevant), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Email legal@stolenheritage.com with the request.
7. Children
The archive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
